Speakers Ryan Whelan

Ryan is a Partner in our Middle East infrastructure disputes team. He is described by industry publications as having "star quality" and being “one of the top lawyers in the region”.

 

With an emphasis on mega and giga-project infrastructure and technology engagements, Ryan maintains a broad international disputes practice acting for clients across a wide spectrum of industries. Ryan’s clients include sovereign states, national oil companies, conglomerates, private equity firms, contractors, and hedge funds, including in respect to the delivery and operation of several of the world’s most high-profile airports.

 

His experience includes acting as counsel on multi-billion-dollar arbitrations and global enforcement campaigns. He also acts as Project Counsel and sits as an Arbitrator, with past engagements including acting as Project Counsel on several iconic transport developments in the Middle East and Asia.

 

Ryan’s work in the Middle East and beyond has earned him a reputation for securing results. His standing in the market is reflected in Ryan being ranked in Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, the Legal 500 Arbitration Powerlist, and Lexology’s Future Arbitration Leaders. He has also been voted by the profession as the UK Legal Personality of the Year.
