Speakers Muhammad Aslam Hayat

Muhammad Aslam Hayat has over three decades of experience at the intersection of law, artificial intelligence, data governance, and technology regulation. His work focuses on shaping legal and policy frameworks for responsible AI, data protection, cross-border data flows, cloud regulation, and digital platforms.

 

He has contributed to global and national initiatives on AI governance, including work on the Global Index on Responsible AI, and has advised governments and regulators on AI-ready data governance frameworks, data localization policies, and the regulation of emerging technologies. He currently advises leading global technology companies, including Tencent, on legal and regulatory issues related to AI systems, cloud infrastructure, gaming ecosystems, and data protection compliance.

 

He has served as Board Member and CEO of Telenor Microfinance Bank, held senior roles at Telenor Pakistan, and has previously led the Pacific ICT Regulatory Resource Centre (PIRRC) in Fiji.

 

Mr. Hayat has taught Telecom and Banking Laws at the International Islamic University, Islamabad, and is a frequent speaker at international forums. He also holds an LLM degree from King's College London, UK.
