Speakers Kilian Balz

Dr. Kilian Bälz is a partner focusing on project development and finance. Kilian has broad experience in advising clients on debt and equity investments in the energy, transportation, telecom, and financial sectors across the GCC, Middle East and North Africa. He further represents clients in arbitration proceedings under all major arbitration rules and advises on trade sanctions as well as business and human rights.

Kilian furthermore is the head of AMERELLER’s Libya practice and has many years of experience in advising international companies on all aspects of doing business in Libya.

Before joining AMERELLER as partner in 2010, Kilian was a partner at Gleiss Lutz and the acting director of the Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, a regional policy platform supporting renewable energies based in Cairo. He publishes widely on Middle Eastern business law and is a regular speaker at conferences. In 2008, he was a fellow at Harvard Law School.
